Report: Russia’s MTS wants average rental terms analyzed, cut costs
MOSCOW, Jan 21 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator MTS has announced a request for information to analyze average commercial rental terms for connection equipment to reduce the costs, and will take bids until February 5, ComNews reported Thursday.
Bidders will design and offer an approach, methodologies and scenarios of analysis depending on types, categories and areas of facilities. MTS wants to know the market average terms of rent, dynamics and forecast.
The operator’s press secretary Dmitry Solodovnikov said earlier that the company started a project of moving base stations to cheaper sites in 2015.
MegaFon, MTS’s main rival, has tested engagement of private lessors in some regions and installed first base stations in 2015. “Within a trial mode, we’ve succeeded in cutting the rent rate by an average of 5%,” MegaFon’s spokeswoman Yulia Dorokhina said.
